Client case study: BEAF Arts Co

BEAF Arts Co is an independent non-profit organisation, multi-artform festival and year-round arts programme based in Boscombe, near Bournemouth.

The BEAF team booked Sarah to work with them on a couple of projects. Work included:

Market and promote tickets for BEAF x Globe on Tour performances

Shakespeare… but not as you know it. A Globe performance of Julius Caesar on top of a multi-storey car park in Boscombe.

BEAF booked Sarah for one day a week, with six weeks to go until the first event.

Sarah worked with BEAF’s directors, and a couple of social media volunteers, to gain visibility, coverage and sell tickets. All three showings were a sell-out.

BEAF renaming + website refresh

BEAF wanted to move away from its festival roots to communicate it was now offering a year-round arts programme. BEAF Arts Co was born.

Budgets were tight due to funding cuts, so Sarah worked with a skilled freelance web developer and one of the BEAF’s team to refresh the site and refine its content.

Aligning content with values for more authentic storytelling

BEAF Arts Co is known for giving people a voice within the community, so Sarah wanted to steer them towards a more authentic way of storytelling to reflect this.

Working with its artists, Sarah aligned marketing content with the organisation’s values to better promote its events and creative initiatives while also building connections with its key audience groups.

Strengthening existing partnerships + forging new ones

Freelancing for BEAF Arts Co, Sarah strengthened partnerships with the Arts Council and coordinated content with teams in other relevant organisations, such as Refugee Week and the Bournemouth Food Bank.

This approach achieved wider visibility and credibility for 2023’s art festival events, as well as elevating the brilliant work the people in these organisations do every day.

Examples of this work in action:

• Arts Council England: Making a case for inclusive arts spaces

Refugee Week: An interview with Iranian musician and asylum speaker, Babak Barbod

BEAF: The importance of alcohol-free spaces in the arts
